no you dont cut off old plugs, tape em up and hide them out of the way and yes if you route the wiring right you can make it look good

dont bother buying one off of ebay, you can make one for less than a tenner, using thicker cabling and better relays than the ebay ones. :)

search for diagrams and have a go yourself, take you about 10mins chap :)

you can buy new headlight plugs from gsf mate. or just cut the old ones, splice in with connectors, and cover with loom tape.

you have to cut into the old wiring anyway, as you have to take your signal from the original wiring.

dont fit a hid kit iirc it does not meet type approval for non factory fitted cars [ im sure there's a thread on here ive read about this ]

i think it may also be an mot fail on a car this old?  :undecided:

you really dont need hid, the uprated loom works a treat, hid kits are generally a bit of a waste of time imo without the correct reflectors and lenses to go with them and also more expensive

what he said... you need projector headlights and iirc headlamp washers and self levelling/adjustable lights for HID to be stricly legal... they would also look gash on a mk1 imo

i really need to do this standard upgrade

theres a guide to upgrading the loom for the mk2 on matey-matey.com quite good guide and im sure it would be relevant for the mk1 as well and far cheaper to do yourself than the ebay job.
