Title: mk4 1.6 with a tappy top end, how can i shut it up??

As above, my bro in-law has a mk4 1.6 16v with a tappy top end. Has anybody got any decent cheap as chips suggestions as to how to shut it up? Like using a different oil/what grade?
Even if it just lasts for a couple of days so he can trade it in at the main stealers  :evil:
