Title: Steering wheel query
Post by: d4w50n on 20 November 2009, 17:23
Hey guys,

Quick query about steering wheels... how interchangeable are they?

I've seen a nice aftermarket one in a Golf GTi in a scrappy that I'd like to put in one of my Saxo's, is it a simple unscrew and replace, or do different manufacturers only allow certain sizes of components to fit, much like with wheels/tyres?

Steering wheels fit on a splined shaft. The chances of a VW wheel fitting a Citroen are pretty slim, but if its in a scrap yard, try swapping them over in there from two scrap vehicles, that way you wont waste your money!

The steering wheel should be fine, it's just the boss/hub you will need obtain to fit your Saxo.

So if I leave the existing boss on I should be fine?

Nope as the standard wheel has the boss built in, you need to get a new boss for the aftermarket wheel.
