Title: Mk3 Golf SE
Post by: czse on 19 November 2009, 14:41
Hi All,

Have just purchased this, a 1996 Golf SE Auto, with FSH & only 61K on the clock, it's pretty much complete.

The only thing not original is the radio, and all that is needed to make it complete is the centre caps. There are 2 on the car which are on the pic, these say "Sport" on them so I question whether or not these are the original caps, so I'm hoping that somebody here will know the answer and also where I can locate them!

Jules

not sure if they are the original alloys tbh, you can get centre caps off ebay

I've seen those alloys on plenty of Mk3 Golfs and Mk4 Polos, so I assume they were a VW optional extra.
You should be able to find some on ebay though, just search in the car parts section.

Oh, and welcome to the site.

They are origional, my mate had a brand new 1997 green Se 1.9d, GTi kit like urs and those wheels on it. Nice car for a newly passed 17 yr old back then!

I had a Mk1 Fiesta 1.1!!!!

I have looked into it, they are a VW optional extra on the SE, I think that the centre caps have gone missing previously, and these are not the original centres, hence the sport logo. Apparently they were made by "100+". Still can't find any though......... Have tried e-bay, no joy yet. Any thoughts??

That solves the sport logo,, sadly not the absence of the centre!

oh  :embarassed:  on a side note i think the sport logo is actually standard on these wheels as since seeing this thread i have notcied 2 diffenrt mk3's with the same wheels and sport logo on them  :undecided:

Solved it finally! The wheels were in the original VW brochure for the SE in 1996, so were not after market. They are Wolfrace Genesis wheels with the SPORT RADER centre cap.

Now I have to go buy some...... (Sailed through MOT btw), then get the Avenger Tiger ready for shows!
