Title: Nick was right about the clutch....now slipping in 1st & 2nd
Post by: Miggie on 16 November 2009, 10:57
So with my newly aqquired power my clutch has started to slip....

Nick did say it was slipping in 5th but now in 2nd gear it is all over the place. Its the first time i got to give it some on dry roads.

I had a look at the options available and wanted to know if that LUK plate would be fine? Reason i ask is that Eurocarparts don't seem to do the Sahcs clutch and i get a very good discount from them. They have the LUK.

I was gonna do an exhaust but now this is priority.....

I've had a couple of LUK clutches and they've been decent, i had one in my old MR2 mk1 1.6 16v, i had to use the clutch for the 125bhp as i was running that box and flywheel mated to my supercharged engine and it handled the extra 40bhp no problems with loads of launching and sideways action

Lots of people say LUK are ok TBH.

But look here:

Anyone else used LUK clutches as i'm kinda getting mixed reviews

Also would this last long (till xmas) if just cruising about as it only slips when boosting?

Have you thought about doing the G60/VR6 flywheel/clutch combo?

Hey yeah thats what i'm gonna do, but says you will need a Sachs vr6 clutch kit and g60/16v-abf flywheel.

What i want to know is, can i use a Luk vr6 clutch kit with the mentioned flywheel?

LUK will be fine.

Sachs is a better option but LUK are standard fit on a lot of cars these days including Aston Martins so I would not worry about running one.
