It's a sad day, my R32 has gone
Went to see the dealer yesterday to talk about MK6 GTi delivery times. He said if i ordered before the end of this month, then i'll get it before the end of Feb and benefit from the 2.5% vat increase waiver from vw. As long as the car is registered before end of Feb.
I see that there's a few people here who have already ordered and talking about March delivery?
I asked him, what if i ordered before end of November and didn't receive it until March. He said i'd still get the 2.5% vat discount because it would have been held up at the vw factory. All seems to make sense, but he's pretty sure that it'll be here in 12 weeks.
Does this seem right with you guys?
Cheers

I've been told that if I order now, delivery date will be feb - I would rather say march on the new plate even if got to pay another £500 ish - I assume the difference in selling price when you come to sell it between feb '10 '59' plate car and mar '10 new plate will be the £500

I'd get that in writing from the sales person on VW letter headed paper and co-signed by the sales manager.

Put it this way - my car was ordered August 25th and the latest delivery date I have is December 18th. I am assuming this will slip to January as I just don't believe A WORD the dealers say. They want your money, not your loyalty

looking at the list of people i made who ordered in August link (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=130186.340) and others who have ordered in later months if i was you i would get that writen on lettered paper and signed by the salesman, sales manager and garage manager. Also write down a clause of it does not happen.

Thanks guys for your help.
I'll be speaking to VW on Friday and then going up there on sat morning.
I'm not convinced that it'll be here before end of Feb, considering some of you have waited well over 12 weeks for delivery!

I orderded my GTi on 11th November been told it will be ready for pick up either the 3rd or 8th March.
However unless the factory have got a plan to really ramp up production, I can't see that, as look at the August orders.......

So will you be eligible for the 2.5% vat discount?

SquirrelGTI.
All I can say to you is: I ordered my GTI on 29 August and the latest the dealer has given me is a provisional build of week 1, 2010. [Started at week 46 and has gradually moved back] That means even if it is built that week I wont get it until end of Jan or early Feb, a total of at least 5 months from ordering.
If he can get you one in three months he's a miracle worker. [might depend on what spec you want]

No as I don't want it till the new reg, and it looks as if it won't be here until at least then, but maybe later in March, then I will pay 17.5% VAT.
The offer VW is running does not cover cars registered after end of Feb 2010.
Unless they change it, to match Ford and Vauxhall, or in his desperation Brown decides to try and buy some votes with an extension of this.
Therefore I worked out a deal based on the assumption of paying the extra.

I'd ditto Bobo's comment.
From what I can tell, very little appears set in stone. Any dealer giving cast-iron build dates are to be doubted.

The dealers words were, if the car couldn't be produced in 12 weeks and roll over to March then i would still only pay 15%.
I asked what if there was a problem at the factory and the dealer got held up on production and it rolled on to March? He reply was it was unlikely and if that did happen i would still only pay 15%.
I'm going to triple check this on Friday when i speak with him.

VW (not dealer) don't really want to know about compensation until you have waited 20 weeks. If i was you i would get that in writing i made the mistake of not doing it in August.

What was the reason for getting rid of the R32?

What was the reason for getting rid of the R32?
Well i've had the the car since 2004 and felt like a change. It had done 50k so not really that high. With the way fuel was going, i just felt like something with a smaller engine and a bit cheaper to run.
It's a superb car and without any doubt the best car i've ever owned. I'll miss the v6 note and the incredible traction in all conditions!
I'm also considering the GTD but i'll probably go with the GTi. I'll get a chance to experience both this weekend.
