Hello
I have just checked my water levels on my 16v and noticed that water is leaking from my raidiator expansion bottle, around the temp switch is there anything i can do or is it a new bottle.
Cheers :-\
-
Mine did that. I removed the sensor and refitted it with some sealant........worked a treat. Don't overtighten the sensor.
-
Had the same problem with my old 1.3 removed the pipe and, the old rad was so brittle it snapped in my hand so I had to get a new rad only ?50 though
-
I changed mine on my 8v the other day, it was only ?5 from G&S if thats any help !!!
-
Does anybody know if there is a washer under the temp switch.
-
There's an O-ring fitted.
-
Cheers rich do you think vw sell new ones or gsf maybe
-
i think a new sender was only 2 quid as well, i changed the lot.
-
Cheers dave i might as well change the lot while ive got my hands dirty.
-
Yeah, go for that, sounds like the best option.
-
Hows the audi gearbox going rich.
-
Not so bad, turns out it wasn't the gearbox afterall. ;D
4 of the bolts that connect the driveshaft to the gearbox have sheared, the other 2 are missing. Hopefully will get away with 6 new bolts and an inner CV boot kit. Even went back down the road and managed to find all the missing bits of CV joint, so with any luck can rebuild the CV joint.

Nice one ;D

Lee, are you coming to Whitenoise?
How's Vicky, have you had your baby yet?
-
No I wont be able to come im off to the Isle of Wight on my vespa the weekend after that so im going to be skint. Vicky is due to have our baby on 12th november. Ive put a new water level switch and seal on today from gsf its worked brilliant. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

#water also leaks from the cap as it has a built in relief valve, the trick is not to over fill the water which should be at or under the min mark when cold
-
Cheers i will keep my eye on it.
