Just as im about to purchase a MK4, my mk3 decides to fack abaaout,
firstly the electric windows all opened at the petrol station on there own, then they failed to close..... now they are ok (intermittent) so fingers crossed that doesnt come back
now when i press the fob to lock the car (or open the car) the cental locking isnt lifting the door pins, also a prolonged buzzing noise can be heard coming from the petrol cap rear side of the car (behind the light cluster, where i assume the pump resides)
i noticed that there doesnt appear to be a fuse that could be the fault.....
i dunno

Sounds like water leaking onto something :)

that makes sense actually as i do smoke with the window open alot even when its raining....

if you hear the pump then the electrics are probably fine, nothign to the factory cl its just a switch in the drivers door and wires to the pump in the back. check all the cl vac pipes, in particular look in the boot at the pump itself.
as for the window problem, sounds liek it micght be the total closure switch on the drivers door thats at fault. maybe the 2 are related? Although the fact the pump buzzes with no lock movement is suspicious

thanks for the help guys, it was the pump/motor in the back behind the light cluster, water had got in an fooked the PCB, luckly i had a spare pump from a random guy at work who gave me a box of spares ages ago
thats what happens if you take your rear wiper off, and forget to put a blanking grommet in straight away
