Hiya peeps,
Can Anyone HELP??
Got a 8v cab on a D plate.
The head gasket went, so me and a mate stripped it down and changed it.
Everything back together now, but it wont start.
Changed all the obvious, (leads, dizzy cap, coil, plugs etc) but still nothing.
The timing is fine, checked that numerious times.
Fuel is getting there fine(i think)
It turns over but it's just not getting the proper sparks.
Wondered if it could be the switch unit, read somewhere that can sometimes cause this problem.
Any one got any ideas.
Sorry it's a long one.

Have you put the earth strap back on the cylinder head? If your head isn't properly earthed that will cause a weak spark. Doubt the head gasket itself provides a very good earth path so your block and gearbox may be fine - hence starter working ok. There should be a seperate strap at the back of the cylinder head/rocker cover :-\

I did this about 3 months ago on my cab, same issue, just ticked over and wouldn't start, had to adjust the timing, moved the distributor a little and it fired up straight away. I then took the car into garage to get timing set correctly, ran perfect after that.
