Hi, I've seen on a few postings things like "you need to find one not thrashed" and "it'll be ok if it's not thrashed"
But what actually is thrashed? I run mine most days between 3000 and 4500 revs, it doesn't seem to enjoy less than 3000 for to long?
If a car red lines at 5000 and you run it forever at 4900, is that not thrashed?
Or if once a month you run it to red line, but the rest of the month you drive at 2000?
Just something I've always wondered about?

Yeah, bit of an odd one that. I mean surely they are built to be 'enjoyed' :)
I guess you just want a car that has been well looked after. Not always that easy to tell though!

I would say that a thrashed car is one that shows multiple signs of excessive wear.
At some point in a cars life they start smoking, bad habit, obviously cars can't read the warnings. But the smoking may not be thrashed, just used. But when you couple that with a gearbox that doesn't want to engage a gear properly, you tend to start looking at the character behind the wheel.
So in my opinion its an accumulation of things and its a subjective term at the very best.
