Post by: gti_chris21 on 11 November 2009, 00:27
i have a 1.6 driver and today when drivin it started tapping really really loudly on every 2 revolution of the wheels and the faster you go the faster it knocks like somethin is caught on the wheels could it be the drive shaft, it stops the noise when you press down the clutch

Could be something to do with the diff or shafts (but dont quote me). Might wanna get that checked out mate. Does it make any difference to the noise when turning left or right? or on full lock?

It's probably a CV joint on the driveshafts dying.

Are the boots all intact, or is there black sh*t around the place?
