Title: fuel pump problem.
Post by: noid on 10 November 2009, 23:02
HELP!!!!!  I have a problem with my mk2 gti.  The fuel pump doesnt run wen the ignition is turned on.  I have replaced the pump relay & tested my fuel pumps & they work fine.  Fuse is good aswell.  Was told if my ecu relay was goosed it would stop power going to my pump relay so replaced that but no change.  Could anybody help me out coz its doing my head in.  Cheers.

have you got an immobiliser? and have you checked your getting power with a test light on the wire plugs that connect to the pump?

I dont think theres an imobiliser & theres no power going to lift pump or fuel pump.  I crossed over the 2 large pins on the pump relay socket & the pump runs fine. Ive checked continuity on both pump plugs & there fine.  Its doing my nut in.

jumping the relay has ruled out wiring and fuse problems to the pumps, does the car start with the relay bridged?

If not, does the ECU relay click when ign switched on?
