Title: 16V/G60 Piston size?
Post by: WYATT on 10 November 2009, 18:11
Alrite just wondering if the caliper pistons from the mk2 g60 calipers are bigger than the mk2 16v one's? i've seen the valver ones have got "lucas" and 54 on the side , and same for the G60 is it just the bigger discs and carriers is the difference ?

Cheers Joe

nope they're the same size, assuming you mean the 256mm late 16v calipers :)

the only difference between 16v and G60 calipers is the G60 ones are a bit wider to fit over the thicker G60 disc.

So fitting the G60 carriers to make the disc size able to 280mm wouldnt work as you said about the width ?

it can be done with 16v calipers, you use part worn 16v pads and/or grind the slider pins down a bit.  personally I'd go for the right calipers, to save messing about. getting common in scrappies now as more MK3 GTIs get scrapped :)
