Title: white smoke and more white smoke
Post by: theclash on 09 November 2009, 20:25
question...would changing the blue temp sensor alter the fuel /co2 setting.
since changing it she throws loads of white smoke out dont think its the head gasket cant check till thursday but only been doing it since i changed sensor.
with it reving on its own aswell its just a plume of white smoke.....one for rubjonny i think

if the old one was duff, yes it would! the temp sensor tells the engien how warm the engine is, and ecu adjusts fueling to suit.  also if someone didnt do the CO setup correctly the base CO level could be out, which will throw everything out of spec.

when do you get the smoke, idle or on throttle?

thanks jonny...i get a lot of smoke at idle and not as much when driving.
the old sensor was deffinatley broke and the co2 was last reset at a garage in march for mot emissions. do you think the mixture/co2 will be thrown out and could this also be contributing to my erratic idle aswell.

it may be if they didn't know how to do it properly, not many garages do!
