Title: Odd findings with idle
Post by: maxp on 08 November 2009, 11:59
Basically if i disconnect power to the idle switch / throttle valve switch, the revs shoot up to 1900rpm straight off the bat.

When reconnected it sits at a nice 900rpm ish.

Idle screw has been checked ok  - can basically close it and it will make only a small difference.

Advice appreciated.

Whats the actual idle problem? you say it idles nicely at 900 when everything is connected

It means when i remove the idle switch from the equation, i have a car that revs at an absolute minimum of 1900rpm (i.e. at >2% throttle, when the idle switch is no longer pressed)

Italian tune up! google it for instructions, these old cars need the dust and cob webs removing once in a while. it fixed my coughs and splutters anyway. make sure your car is up for it first thou, check fluids etc

The car runs fine, does good mpg (40-45mpg), its just the revs hike to 2000rpm not 1000rpm when the throttle has past 2% open.
