anyone used drivethedeal.com, not just for Golfs, but any other car?
they look like they are highly recommended by the motoring press.
-
We got a quote but the local dealer did us a better price on our Black Pirelli.
Was back when the last of the MKVs were being discounted last September.
It was useful just for comparison though. :nerd:
-
Yes, to barter. Twice, I have taken a print of their quote into the dealer. Told them, I would rather deal with a local dealer but would be silly to pay over the odds. They made me wait (need to check with head office, their manager, ), but have eventually got a phone call agreeing to my offer.

Someone on the Mk6 forum used something like them.
He has got swirly paintwork and 400 miles to go to his supplying dealer. Not good.
-
well he should of noticed when he picked it up!
-
If its paint defects from the factory rather than the way he washes it or from how the supplying dealer PDI it, then he can go to any dealer to put in a claim to VW.
I have used brokers like drivethedeal for years much more friendly service and also a better price than going through retail side of stealers.

Didn't pick it up 2007gti, got delivered actually.Did you inspect your car with a sunlamp when you collected it! Dic@!

my dad got his xc90 through them. Long wait and 400 mile round trip to pick it up but no complaints other than that.

Hmm, if you'd asked a few yrs back when I bought a mk4 gti via them, I'd have praised them to the hilt, I got lucky as they found exactly the car I wanted already available at a dealer & I had the car within days, at a nice discount. So I ordered a mk6 thru them & its been farcical (ordered 12th aug & after a load of c&b from the dealer about plenty allocation, nov delivery, now I'm build week 1 ffs). How much of the delay is down to vw is a moot point, but essentially there were other brokers offering much larger discounts, but they were honest & admitted no free slots til dec..........so basically I could have been a lot better off & got the car about the same time. In this I feel the dealer is more at fault than the broker, but they put you in touch, so ultimately it dooes came back to them. I'm very near cancelling & joining the mk5 mob instead

that does sound like dealer, as Mk6's are oversubscribed from what I hear. thanks for feedback.

I did the same and have the same problem as you. I went with another broker (not broadspeed) rather than one i had delt with before (that quoted march delivery and 3% extra discount!) because of allocation now its been put back and back.
After talking to someone i know at a different dealership this is down to VW not the dealers though.
It does seem you either hit luckie at the start of August, or you hit mid to late August were you hit the point VW started dicking about with build slots.
I did have the build slot the dealer said i would have had when i first phoned customer service,
BUT due to VW playing silly buggers with the build weeks this keeps moving to 48 then now 50 and it would not suprise me if it moves again to next year.
I don't blaim the dealer or broker they thought they had the allocation/time scale as VW told them they did! and Customer service said it to me too! Its VW that moved everything about.
-
Agreed Snoopy, and in the spirit of fairness, DTD handled my cancellation impecably, understood my position & organised a refund of my deposit without a quibble of any kind. I'll be writing something to VW customer service asap, and blame them entirely. I'd say they should look round this forum a while, then they might realise the UK GTi squad are amongst the most dedicated anywhere, and right now they ain't doing themselves any favours!

i wouldnt waste the stamp, VW CS are a waste of space, they wont listen.
