Title: Kph or Mph
Post by: B3n on 04 November 2009, 16:53
Can the 'digital' speedo be changed to show mph rather than kph? This is the only thing i didn't like about the car on my test drive... Dealer said it can't be changed! Is he right?!

My first post so apologies if this has been answered before!

I thought you need VCDS (VAG-COM) to change it, could be wrong though ?

Can't be changed.

Kph must be displayed and since the Kph isn't round the actual dial like in some other cars then it has to be shown somewhere.
I'm sure if you activate cruise it disappears.

Edit: Legislation apparently.

Yep it's illegal, you have to have them both displayed

Does anyone know why it has to be shown by law? What benefit does it add to anyone in this country?

If you activate cruise, it stays. Only the total mileage/odometer display is replaced by the cruise speed setting.

Cheers Alan. Does it stay on the display all the time then?
I can only recall seeing it every now and then.

All the time - bottom centre. That MFD is getting pretty busy now - almost needs a screensaver.
