For about a week now, my Mk3 16V is completely void of battery power as soon as the ignition is switched off. All the guages reamain exactly where they are instead of returning to zero, the interior light doesn't come on, the central locking doesn't work and the board computer resets everyting except the total mileage to zero. When i turn the ignition back on, there is a short buzzing sound that sounds like the starter motor spinning but much quieter and as if it is coming from just behind the dash. Anyone know whats going on??
Cheers

maybe could be a dodgy ignition switch or must be something related.. have a search here.. sure i've heard something about that buzzing before..
if it were me, i'd take it to my local vw/alarm/stereo specialist (they do all in one, so i trust em with my electricals)

It shouldn't be the ignition switch cos that was just changed about a month ago, (it was dodgy when i bought the car). Suppose I'll have to take to the auto-electrics place, just wanted to check it was nowt simple.
Thanks for the reply.

hang on...
this sounds suspect..
you've just "changed"? something recently.. and magically something thats closely related is acting up?
cmon.. dont ignore the ignition switch!

Problem sorted, took it to the auto-electrics place. Was just a blown fuse and a wiring problem. Bit upset paying for such a simple prob but never would have spotted the wiring fault myself, plus he fitted my autochanger that i've had sitting around for 3 mths.
