Just been watching a programme about scrappage deals and apparently VW have really benefited from it. Anyway there was a fair bit of footage of the factory at Wolfsburg where 40% of the population of that town work for VW, it is definitely something else though, and the number of Golfs on the production line was awesome they've even introduced Saturday and Sunday shifts to cope with workload.

How sad am I?
The best short break I had this year was in a car factory.
The family loved it, I loved it and saw my 'baby' born (I think).
It's not what you think a factory tour may be, you can also do the bungee swings, feed the fish by hand, listen to some water music, eat well, learn how to drive safely and go to the souvenir shop. Not to mention the two glass fronted towers full of cars standing in a lake....
Well, I enjoyed it anyway.

Wow!! wish I could have done that tour, it looks like some place to work.

Thanks for that it sounds and looks fantastic, one of these days I'll maybe try to get out there.

If you can - do.
Amazing.

Given that a large proportion of the UK scrappage money was spent on VW Golfs, I should bloody well think Wolfsburg looked "stunning"
-
Yes - saw the programme too.
The VW guy was a bit of a hoot when put on the put to 'tell the viewers' how much of the composite Gof coming down the line was made up of British components: 'err, I can't see the brand of the tyres' .. or something like that!

can vouch for a trip to the autostadt being a good day out. The car towers are something else.
The currywurst wasn't bad either and done a bit of safety driving too. Definately worth a look if your ever going to Germany. We were in Berlin and got the train to Wolfsburg and spent the day there.
