Could anyone tell me which stereo came as standard with a 98MkIII?
The one I got with the car is a Sony XR-C55ORDS but the manual
is for a Sony XR-6859RDS

should have volkswagen group on it if its origional. Mine had it stamped on the cassette door
-
No, there's no VW stamp.....must be an imposter!
I take it the original stereos were Sony?
-
yes afaik the originals were sony. mine came with a sony tape deck.. that happens to be a XR-6859RDS .. tape only.. which is probably why its been upgraded. :)

Not sure if it was standard but when I bought my '97 P it had a Sony XR-C5300R head unit. Presume it has been upgraded at some point as it is the newer style compared to Overseers with the drop down front (whole face is screen). Only a tape system but thankfully compatible with a Sony 6 CD stacker in the boot!
-
Yeah think its an upgrade. Should both systems not be compatible with the disk changer though?
Hey Overseer, as for your ebay link......99p!! Were you buying or selling!!??
-
neither.. i was just lookin :)
