Title: R-Tech On Friday
Post by: Grand Master Patch on 27 October 2009, 22:53
Going back down to R-tech on Friday for "playtime" as Nick calls it,we're going to see if adjusting the actuator helps find my missing torque.....

I'm hoping to be eating some biscuits!

Not going to Miltek tomorrow now, so sadly it'll be more of a passing hello than anything exciting

The fun will have to wait a couple more weeks.

What are you having done? Spoke to Chris earlier and it sounds like you'll be up to some exciting stuff.

I think they're going to try and blow my engine up

Hoping to have the actuator adjusted to resolve the fluctuating boost issue,if that fails it's going to be the forge actuator.I hear this my be a turbo off job though.........

Went back down to R-tech today to have the actuator adjusted and hopefully solve the fluctuating boost and low torque, boy oh boy did they come up trumps.

Once again it was an early start, and once again Ben made the brews

Nick took it for a quick spin and as soon as he came back he tried some different spark plugs and stuck it on the rollers,it made 226 bhp and 227 ftlbs of torque again. Now it was time to start adjusting things,Nick and Chris both got their hands dirty and burnt and started adjusting the actuator and giving it a run on the rollers each time. After a couple of hours/a few different dv springs and a different N75 and some map tweeking,my car now hits 20psi everytime i floor it,it pulls much harder than before while still keeping the smooth power delivery.

The car can really move now,and the low down punch it was lacking is well and truly sorted, spinning the wheels up in second gear on a bone dry road.

The knowledge and enthusiasm these lads have is second to none, and you won't walk away disappointed.I can't stress how much i recommend them for any of your tuning needs.

Give them a ring and you will NOT be disappointed.

Hello m8,

If you send an email to info@r-techpower.co.uk I will get the jpegs of the dyno runs emailed to you tomorrow.

I think the final run (after 18 runs) came back with 220bhp and 238lbft.  I the car was left to cool down I would have thought it would be closer to 227bhp/240+lbft.  We will have to wait for the Awesome RR next month to get a second opinion.

I was happy that we got a result today, If I didnt we would still be there now with a stripped engine and turbo..lol

The end result was a good un, one burnt little finger and a few singed hairs and more power.

Thanks again m8.

Nick,

Cheers mate, make a mental note of it.  I got 189bhp on the last RR, and reckon I might get a bit more if I run in a gear other than 3rd.  Either way, should be a good fun day!  If I can't get onto the road I might just pop along to take some photos and get in the way anyway!

I got home in just over an hour and got to boot it the whole way!

Good to meet you Patch. Didn't realise that was the kind of power you were getting. Most impressive

I too had a cracking day, as always, at the mighty R Tech. I'm pretty sure the boys managed to set a new record for fitting a TIP!
