Title: Quick Clocks Question

A friend has a MK2 he's trying to restore and the clocks are gone! Its a GTD, but would the clocks from a GTi 8v go in? Such as the ones this chap is selling?

the rev counter wont work, the diesels use a different signal.
gotta be diesel clocks unless you dont care that the rev counter and oil pressure warning circuit don't work
