just recieved some calipers today.. pretty p!ssed of that the packaging is ripped and has oil all over it :angry:
is it safe to jet wash the calipers?? or are they meant be oiled or greased whatever :undecided: stupid q i know but never messed around with calipers :rolleyes:
am i right in saying i need japlac paint to paint them red? also what laquer do i need
they are already painted red but its a proper crap job and its flaked :sick:

I used Hammerite too, did it a few months ago now and still looking good.

£25 bit steep ... thought could get a paint tin for like £5 :lipsrsealed: :laugh:
gonna pop down to halfords and see how much hammerite is.. if its ruffly same then ill jus buy the £25 foliateshop one :wink:

Think I picked up my hammerite for about £7 and theres is loads left over for another day / project.

is there anyway of knowing if there off a golf mk4 1.8T??
as cant seem find any part no. on em..all i know guy selling em off ebay said they are but iv had people claiming items are something when they are not! :angry:

get the smallest pot of hammerite smooth imo, i bought one a few years ago and i've painted the calipers on over 5 cars.

i would say yes they are mk4 golf ones also and looks like most of the parts are there :wink: just get em cleaned prepped and painted/laquered :grin:

cus i aint got a garage where i can remove mine and paint them up as i need my car daily :rolleyes:
and as for price well if can get something done cheaper why not :grin:

Certainly look the same as my 2000 x plate AUM caliper kit.
Are you planning to get these cleaned/prepped up and fitted, then use the spare paint up on your old set before you punt them?

planning on cleaning and painting the ones i got off ebay mate and just replace them with mine and then sell my old ones back off :wink:

Have you started cleaning them up yet? Go steady with any hardcore cleaning, stick to the visible surfaces.
What state are the seals / pistons in?

2 b honest no idea what state the pistons are in :undecided:
gonna take em to a garage theres a chap there hes a x VW technician ill tell him give em a check see if everything is working :wink:
