Title: How many coats of laquer is too many?
Post by: JDM82 on 25 October 2009, 20:15
Hi guys and girls
I got myself some plastic bits for my golf and decided to have a go at spraying them myself.Im surprized how well they've turned out.My method was:-

1. Rub down with fine grit paper
2. 3 to 4 coats of plastic primer
3. Another rub down
4. 3 coats of paint
5. Another rub down
6. Clear laquer

Now i did 4 coats of laquer but it didnt feel smooth enough so 2 more coats and its almost there. Was thinking of doing another 2 maybe 3 coats?
Is that too many coats? Im leaving it 30 minutes between coats then 24 hours before I test the smoothness. They have come out looking great just want them smooth so dirt doesnt inbed in the rough.

Blimey, if you've done that many just 1500 it flat then a good cutting compound (G6).
