Title: Hey
Post by: Dan84 on 25 October 2009, 19:04
Hi all, posted in the mk2 section but thought I should post here. Just bought another mk2 1.8 16v gti (owned one previous but was mint, didn't know how special it was and swapped it for a 20k mile rover 220 turbo, yes i'm a twit) So I bought another one yesterday.

Spent most of today un-bodging the previous owners f*ck ups (Non mk2 central locking motor wired up with tape and duck taped into the inside of the door, instrument panel plug on right hand side not plugged in properly, now my fuel gauge works, the heater and the wipers wont work unless the lights are on, and the drivers seat feels like a rocking chair)

I'm gradually working my way through this all and hope to get loads done before my late shift tomorrow!

Nice to read all your posts, I hope to get some pictures up soon!

P.s. Anyone know why and non-retarded person would remove the full beams? I just replaced them with minimum fuss...

Welcome mate,

Going through the same progress myself. For example, rear speakers were held in with celotape !!!
The joys.

Would it not be an MOT failure with removed full-beams?

Welcome to the forum. I feel your pain! I've just finished getting mine right mechanically, and that's cost me 1K. Now onto the body work, wheels and interior.

The muppet that had mine decided he wanted to take ALL of the speakers with him. Not just take them mind, actually rip them out, damaging the dash in the process.
