Title: ABS module swap - coding question
Post by: minichamps11 on 25 October 2009, 18:00
My 8V Golf had the usual "RHS rear ABS sensor fault" - did checks and found the ABS module was bust. Bought a replacement with the same VW part code. Fitted it and get a VAGCOM "ABS MODULE INCORRECTLY CODED" error.

Does this mean that a) I didn't buy the right part numbered ABS module after all? (I used the part no. on the ABS pump motor, but have read since that the ABS ECU has it's own code, which might be different again) or b) I just need to buy the full version of VAGCOM so I can simply re-code the ABS module?

I did a search on this forum and couldn't find much info on this subject. Anyone else here done this change?

Cheers,

 Ian.

Cheers Len. I've been trying to scrub the oil & muck off the bottom of the ABS ECU so I can get my mobile phone in there and take a photo of the module part number....
