Title: Where do 1.8t prices currently stand please?
Post by: Madmax on 24 October 2009, 18:49
I'm told that i won't find a decent example for around £3,000 which is a bit of a bummer
but i just want some clarification whether of not i'd find a decent example, for my budget.

I've been planning this new cars for months & now if i have to save more it's going to be an extra few months
of saving.

Don't tell me what i want to hear, just tell me the truth, dammit.

I made a similar thread a few months back but with a £2k budget.

Cheers people

£3k is more than enough for a nice 1.8t

Thanks, hopefully i'll find one. Obviously an early one with maybe just a pinch over 100k but as long as it runs right.

Looks really nice, looks like it came with a few neat extras too.

How much do prices vary between the ages then? I understand the newer ones had
better turbo's, does this make a big difference.

I'm just paranoid that i won't find a good one.

I did pay £3,000 for a 2.0 Mk4 but that was back in 2006.

That's exactly what i'm looking for. Red, 3 door, alloys, stock stereo. Too bad i don' have the money yet.

Good luck with the sale tho.

Thanks for all the replies guys, you've all paid much more then i'm wanting too but they've all got very low miles so makes sense.
Would be great to hear from people who've bought for around the £3k mark.

Thanks again.

For that money you should be able to pick up at least a 2001 Y with good miles & history, preferably black, unmodified & 3 door

I have sold loads of these in the last few years & price have dropped considerably. (Although there are still plenty overpriced!)

no worries-keep ya eyes peeled and stick with ya budget as I picked up an 01' 1.8T 2 months ago for £1900with 90k on the clock.  It needed rear anti-roll bar bushes done which bumped the total up to about £21xx but now its running fine and after a trip to R-tech for a remap-Nick even said it ran strong for an AGU!!
