Title: MKIV chavs trying to race me
Post by: jaydubveedub on 24 October 2009, 17:40
On my way over to the inlaws with the wife and a MKIV managed to struggle it's way up behind me and tailgate me as we were all stuck behind a horsebox. I noticed there were three chavs in it, who then started waving their arms out of the window, presumably to entice me into a race.

As tempted as I was to accept the "challenge" of dropping a 1.6 SE, I managed to resist. C*cks.

Maybe I'm wrong, and they were just desperate to get home and fit some blue LED washer jets that they'd just spunked £25 on.

Personally speaking, I wouldn't try and get someone to race me unless I was sure I could win

Some day in a few years I would love to do a GTI engine/trans/etc transplant into my beloved mk5, but leave the standard golf badges/bumpers on. Sleeper baby

Why not just buy a golf gti?

Because I love my mk5 and sure a GTI conversion would be a lot of work but it would be fun and a good experience. Like the built not bought section in PVW

The chavvy MkIV blokes could have been waving to say they liked the look of your car

there are those in the US who have put golf bumpers on a GTi. trying to turn it into a sleeper. Alot of effort for zero benefit.

I think The TDI badge on the back would be a better idea as GTTDI's have the same look from the back as the GTi's

The Golf bumpers on a GTI in the Us doesn't really work cause they don't even sell the smaller engined ones there, do they? There's the 2.5 V5 Rabbit, GT, GTI and R32. The normal TDI might be over there but I don't really know. In the US all Golf bumpers mean is that you're pushing 170 bhp instead of 200, so not that sleepery really  :undecided:

Same here, plenty of MK5 TDI's try to have a go.

I just let them past, dont need to prove my car is better

I agree let them have thier moment but sayign that i havent really had anyone have a go well a M3 did a while ago which was fun lol the only thign that can beat the sound of a V6 is 2 V6's lol

but Some drivers got something to prove for some bizzare reason and esp if your car is nicer than thiers!

so that'd be a FAIL then
Straight line races are boring...corners are where it matters and the place for it is the track...but tbh a lot of the Chavs this end are in standard crappy cars...or 1.2 sh1tboxes with a lot of plastic fantastic attached....so what would the point of wasting fuel when you can turn up the tunes, sit back and cruise looking very  :smug:
P1sses em off even more
