Havent been here in a while coz the mk3 aint been doing to bad since i got it 4 months ago and beleive me it was dog back then as some of you will know.
That all changed today tho. Coming home from work steam started coming from the passenger side.
Bonnet up and it seems the waters coming from the over flo on the water bottle..
Put water in and it just came squiting out again.
Temp was fine even on the way home which was about 6 miles from when it started. Fan kicks in so im thinkong it must be a shot thermo switch..
Any else 1 got any ideas or had similer problems

It could be the expansion bottle cap. the seal could have gone. Only about 8 quid from the dealers.
Or it could be a head gasket prob!!
hope its the first one mate

No mate heads fine the water is clean apart from antfreeze and no visible oil so i ruled out the head.
bottle cap is fine to i got it new 3 months ago..
theres an over flo whole on the side of the water tank and thats where the water came out suggesting the water is not circulating the engine properlly, gets hot and forces its way back out the only place it can escape...the expantion bottle..

Thermostat? Air lock?
