Hi y'all,
Just bought a 99 MK3 GTi 8v.
I am looking to do a slight mod for the audio that I previously performed on a similar set up in a 97 Saab 9000.
What I am looking to do is set up an AUX in on the cheap.
I already have a sony 10CD changer from the Saab, that I am hoping the golf HU will recognise (the Saab head is basically the same, but with minor interface differences - i.e. controls in slightly different places)
I am looking to install the changer via the Unilink and place a random CD in it, so that the HU will open the audio on the CD channel. This worked fine in the Saab.
Ok, so I have had a look at the back of the golf HU and there are no RCA phono plugs as there is no CD changer, but the sockets are there ready - all good.
My issues are -
There is already a Unilink connector connected to the HU - where is the likely location for the other end of this lead?
If it's in a convenient location, I should just be able to install the changer there (this is what In hope for).
Also, I have been told that the Unilink connector should just pull out from the HU. But, I seem to be using a lot of force to try and don't want to risk pulling the cable too much.
It also seems to have a collar that would maybe denote some pushing, pulling, turning action might be required..
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
