Can anyone who has 19s on their car please post a pic of it? Preferably white.
I am trying to decide what wheels to buy for my car which arrives at the end of the year.
-
I wonder where i saw a cw mk6 gti with some audi rims.. looked cool! 19"s i think, black inside silver surface.. hmm wonder where..

The wheels are 19 x 8.5 with offsets of ET52.

I have the 18 monza shadows and although when I was first thinking of buying the GTI I thought these looked horrible they have really grown on me. I think they make the GTI stand out from cars with normal alloys, at least the monzas are somewhat different.
Why would you want 19s on when the ride on the 18s is supposed to be a lot harder than the 17s, although it is not something I've found having been in both I much prefer the 18s.
-
I thought this was going to happen.
Please don't try to tell me that the ride will be terrible and question me wanting 19s.
In my opinion, 19s make the car look awesome and any downsides there may be are not enough to put me off.

Terrible? No. Firm? Yes.

I'm in no way getting at you, but the ride quality comment is someone's opinion. In your opinion the look of the 19" merit the trade-off with ride. Each to their own...
Just do it! :afro:

Not getting at you fella it's just an opinion, which is what a forum like this is for to give an opinion on what we all think of the mk6 GTI. I love the feel of my car on the 18s but would not want to ride on 19s, but that is my opinion.

For me it's a visual thing - IMO the car looks better on 19's. There's no real-world advantage and infact 17's and 18's will probably provide more progressive on-the-limit handling.
A pic of a Mk6 on 19's

Whilst those wheels do look fantastic on that VWR GTI (just like Neil's do), I'm quite impressed by the look of the exhaust on the one above too. Sorry to go off topic. :lipsrsealed:

Fair comments.
I have had a few MK4s on 19s and they really did look awesome.
I just have to decide what wheels to get.
I might even get BBS LM copies. If one get damaged, it won't be silly money to replace!

I was just about to say the same thing. The bigger 'zorst looks very mean indeed.

What wheels are these?
They look the same as Neils car - but black instead of grey?

They are the same wheels as mine, that car is outside racingline.com had vwr wheels, exhaust and springs fitted and maybe brakes aswell,
Vwr paint the wheels any colour you want

Looks
I love black wheels on white cars. I just wouldn't have the balls to order a white car!

For me the main factor is not being able to wash it every week! When I first got my ED30 I washed it ever week (sometimes more) ad polished / waxed it every month. Now I live in a flat, and don't have the same access - so have to go to my mums once a month to clean it!
Theres also the yellow spots people have been moaning about - as well as tar spots which are far more obvious on white than anything else.
Plus - is white a fad? It's the colour of the moment... but will it die off again like it did years ago?!
I think it looks amazing - but I'd never own one!

Mines white and have only washed it once. looks ok... wont need another wash till around december me thinks. Hides the dirt alot better than black tbh.
-
I was just going to say the same, black is much harder to clean than white. White isnt as hard as people think to keep clean.
-
White rocks.

I think you made the right choice i think yours looks so much better than that white one.

Have to give her a wash over weekend and sort some decent pics out, mud sprays marks down the side at mo, looks like me been rallying

More pictures would be good, my youngest deleted my nice desktop wallpaper off the other day so your GTI in a nice location could fill the blank void on my monitor

Sigh. I'll have to give mine a bath too, he's filthy. [Rolfe wonders again about those mud flaps the dealer said wouldn't make much difference....]
I hardly ever washed the Peugeot, because that gold paint job really didn't show the dirt. And I had a decent car wash nearby. Now, I don't have a car wash anywhere close, and even if I had, I wouldn't go near it in a car with a very new paint job. Five weeks since collection, and you could plant seeds on my tailgate though.
I suppose if I asked for advice, I'd just be told to go visit the detailing section?
Rolfe.

Nah, you don't need to detail it to keep it clean. Two buckets, one with warm shampoo water and the other with just warm water and a grit guard (plastic grid that goes in the bucket to get any grit off your wash mitt (that's right Rolfe, no sponges!)
Hose off the major debris or jet wash, use your wash mitt to clean, rinse in the other bucket with the grit guard, start from the roof down. When you've cleaned it all off, hose off any excess shamps and dry with a specific drying towel or a chamois. Periodically wax him off as well or find a decent mobile valeter and get him around once a month?
-
Ta muchly!
Well, what did I see parked outside my neighbour's house this morning? A mobile car valet van. (This is a guy who washes his cars obsessively, and even came to my door on Boxing Day and offered to wash mine....)
He's just got a new sports coupe, about two weeks before I got my car - 59 number plate.
Rolfe.

Rolfe keep away from all the 'hand car wash' outfits either roadside or more commonly in supermarket car parks, they are often worse than automatic car washes.

I was sat in a supermarket carpark watching those idoits wash a black VW Touran, the water and sponge were filthy and i can honestly say the car looked worse when he had finished.Washing it in full sun with very little water and letting it dry .
