Post by: skem55 on 20 October 2009, 08:30
hi ppl just wondering if some one had any idea to my problem? Whilst driving the car along it will sometimes missfire above 4000rpm sometimes higher sometime not at all, have checked the spark plugs seem fine, timing was done sat and has been fine till last night, its as if its lackin fuel high in the rev's, its a 16v k jet. Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful

When was the last time your CO was set? Not that it would be a cause, but its always good to have the basics right.

Also, what fuel are you running 95/97/99/102?

was running on bp ultimate 97 but did have to get some cheap sainsburys crap, which seems to be the cause as now ive managed to get some decent bp stuff the problem is gone!?

oh well lesson learnt stop using crap fuel

The cheap stuff combusts at a lower temprature doesnt it?
I got told that the old engines run better on petrol that combusta at a lower temprature and that the other stuff whitens the valves?!
Dont know if thats true or not, not saying your wrong or anything tho lol

I've tried the car on ASDA 95 and Shell optimax, can't say I've noticed a difference, other than the price. I understand the chemistry behind it I just can't feel any difference. Maybe I need to set the car up to run on 99ron as I understand the KR's are pretty sensitive to timed correctly etc.

Whups, I would like to retract my previous statement. Just to avoid anyone going over old ground.

I'll use 99ron from now on, promise....
