Title: RCD510 + DYNAUDIO: Missing some bass...
Post by: nuketronic on 19 October 2009, 14:04
Got the RCD510 plus DYNAUDIO, but im missing some bass "umpf". Anyone upgraded their system with a 10" or 12" sub? probably the shallow ones, to occupy less space in the boot? any forum topic im missing?! gracias!

The only time I get proper 'oomph' that your taking about is when I listen to the radio funnily enough. It's not bad with the memory card, ipod or CD, its just the Radio is much better.

You'll probably get a much better response asking that question in the ICE section (Car Audio)

These are not cheap but will sound fabulous....

They do quite a range of aftermarket kit to consider....

Yeah, they're alittle excessive I suppose, a grand a pop is a bit rich.

Apparently these (link) do a good job even though they're fairly old....

personally I would give it a while and see if you learn to appreicate the standard system, they are designed to accurately reproduce the original signal. Some people get so used to false bass they miss the clarity of a high-end system.

either way, good luck

is there enough space under the seat for a small sub?

and with a sub would it make the std speakers (which sound fine) closer to the dynaudio upgrade?

forgive my complete noobness at ICE

If you have the dynaudio upgrade, thats where the amp is (passengers seat) so no chance of a sub

nope , not got the dyaudio upgrade.  you get an additional amp as well?!  i thought it was just upgraded speakers.  sigh.

nvm - time to cheer myself up, I'm going for a drive without the stereo on, give it a little stick in S mode :)

I found the Dynaudio system a little bit disappointing at first; a bit bright sounding with a lack of low-end power. I have to say though that now, after a few months of ownership, it sounds really good and I often get asked if I have a sub in the car! It can really surprise you with some tracks. I guess it takes a while for the electronics to bed-in and the speakers loosen up - a bit like home hi-fi; I am surprised by how much it has transformed though. In my experience my iphone sounds 'thin' and brittle whereas CD gives by far the best sound.

Same here - clean, bright sound but not all there at the bottom end. Mine's only three weeks old. I'm still fiddling with the EQ - anyone found the "perfect" setting yet?

bugger.  i dug out some old CDs, classic dance tunes from the 90s... but forgot to take them with me for my "spirited" drive!

still, had fun listening to the engine and turbo whistle instead :)  hit 109c and 4.3 mpg

Culture Beat will have to wait until tomorrow morning.  Going to the airport tomorrow, roads at 5am should be nice and clear :)
