Title: newbie with a recently purchased 89' mk2 16v 3dr needs help already!!!

Hi all just thought i'd introduce myself, i've just bought an 89 3dr gti mk2 16v.  The car was purchased extremely cheap on the basis of restoring it with a few extra nice touches.  Spent the whole of saturday degreasing the engine and peeling off stripes (man it takes long!!).  The car at the moment has the small bumper spec but i would like to change them to the big bumpers which i am told will fit fine however i will also need new side trims.  Do the side trims use the original holes that are left by the old trims, NEED SOME ADICE PEEPS!!! ANY HELP IS BETTER THAN NO HELP SO IM TOLD!!! much appreciated....

I believe they are the same, in fact they must be as I had a 90 spec piece on mine when I first got it :)

Thanks for all the quick responses guys (much appreciated), i will take the advice and have a look at the mk2 section as i have big big plans for this car (on a budget obviously).
