Title: leather fault, help
Post by: njc850 on 18 October 2009, 19:04
hi all
Just noticed, after almost 3000 miles and 3 weeks, that the front passenger door has no leather on it, just cloth, unlike the other 3 doors. Am amazed I noticed it, and now it's just annoying and rubbish.
Anybody else?
Is it easy to fix?
Help, gutted!
Cheers all

You gotta be kidding me??  You mean to say that the leather insert on the door card has actually been installed as a cloth insert?

I thought these cars were QC'd before they left the factory?!

I've also seen a new GTI with mis-matched red/darkened inner and outer tail lights. It happens, I guess, especially when you are in the first months of build.

I guess it could be worse, but its v annoying, and I live in Bradford, and got the car from Telford (via Carfile) and cannot be ar$ed to drive it back there, wonder if Bradford VW will be just as obliged to fix it?
I know what you mean about QC, but it's not that obvious, I spotted it due a traffic jam, reckon most people I know wouldn't have ever ever spotted it, but now its so obvious!
Simple door card swap? Or some moron tearing my pride and joy to pieces?
Goddammit!

Should be a easy fix. Any dealership will do it and just bill VW accordingly

I had your leather door panel.  We could have done a swap

It took me 2 days to notice it, then the dealer said it would take a while to get a cloth door panel as the car was new but they phoned a couple of weeks ago and 10 mins and a cup of tea later it was changed.

God knows how they manage to screw that up at the factory, get checked then the dealer missing it.

The dealer told me that a guy with a R32 brought his car in for its 2nd service and they noticed that his had a different door panel to the rest.  So he had his 2 years and didnt eve notice
