Title: MFA Probs and central locking
Post by: Deano2711 on 17 October 2009, 18:06
Have today tried to cure my non working MFA which has never worked since I bought the car. I thought I would change the stalk first and after acquiring one set to work. Removed the battery for half hour, removed airbag and steering wheel and changed the stalk. Replaced everything but still no MFA. Is there a fuse or relay somewhere that controls the MFA everything else on the stalk works.
Then just to top it off went to lock the car and the central locking is no longer working. Used it to open the car before disconnecting the battery. Have checked all the connectors in the control box nothing loose or blown fuses. Have currently got the alarm disarmed as I have a dodgy door sensor to replace but always had remote central locking. I am guessing I need to reset the key fob but does anyone know how to do this. It is standard factory fit and has the two button keyfob.     Cheers     Deano

The standard alarms have a reset button/key on the brain. Not sure if that is on your model of alarm, but could work.

check the connector on the rear of the clocks... try unplugging and replugging it in and see if it works.. if not try some new clocks

Reset the central locking/alarm this morning. Works a treat again. Great help your alarm thread BoneyBradley (maybe next time I will read it all first!!!!!!!)
Also removed the clocks and removed and cleaned the plug at the back. Put it all back together and still no MFA so I guess I will begin the search for a cheap set of clocks.
Thanks for all your help BoneyBradley - I owe you one.

theres a length of loom between the mfa stalk plug and fusebox, its on its own so you can pop it out and check all 4 pins for continuity between both ends
