Title: Knock senser

Just been out and had a look at the knock senser on my 8v digi and i noticed that the plastic is broken.

Does it matter if this broken?Is the plastic just a cover for whats inside?

inside is a pezoelectric micropone tuned to about 5.5 khz   would change it if the caseing is cracked as the load on the cristal massivly effects its response
