Ase have a look at my other post "****Attention al White GTI and GT owner****" for full details but please read on!
I have discovered yellow stains on both of my rear bumper wheel arches.
Having taken the car back to the dealer where it still is.... They are now saying that these stains are somethjng I've driven through and they're jot prepared to do anything about it!
This is clearly a load of crap because the stains appear to be underneath the laquer and are not present on the front wheel arches. Which suggest that I have only driven throgh "something" with my back wheels!!
Now, I have refused to hav the car back until they sort it out - but I have been told that the sales manager will call me on Monday and I will have to pick it up and accept it because the paint warranty manager says it's not a warranty issue!!
Firstly: does anyone else have or had this problem with their rear bumper ???
Secondly: where do I stand in relation to this??
I hve actually had the car for 9 days and done about 480 miles in it!!
HELP!

The yellow stains ? Do you mean like tiny little dots ? If so, I had them on my rear bumper too, they came right off though.

Yes they are like yellow dots - a bit like spray off of the tyres....
But they will not come off with elbow grease or polish - It looks to be underneath the laquer or the paint!!
-
I'm Also a bit worried that it will be my word against there's as to whether I've driven through something or not!!
But in my opinion If the paint isn't able to cope with normal road contaminates... It isn't much good!!!

I definately had what you were talking about, mine came right off with a damp shammy, a little elbow grease and one or two picked off with my nail.
If you're not so lucky then you must have got it worse than mine.

I noticed mine at the dealers before I even drove it home. I picked one off with my nail and thought, not too bad I'll get the rest later so I never mentioned it.

Did the dealer shine the tyres before you took delivery?
If he did he may have used a tyre dressing containing heptane.
Heptane will turn white paint orange.

If you look at the rear wheels around the brake discs there is a guard of some sort, when this gets wet you get surface rust which is probably spraying off onto the rear bumpers, there is no such guard on the front wheels. This could be where your staining is coming from ? :undecided:

Did you join detailingworld? They have a lot of experts on there that I'm sure would be willing to help. Even if you paid one of them to inspect the car and give you some kind of written report you could take it back to VW.
They are the best people to tell you if it can be removed or not, not the sponge users the garage employ.

As i said before i had exactly the same issue with mine, yellow/brown stains which were on the inside lip of the wheel arch and the first one inch which surrounds the wheel arch. I tried everything in my large cleaning products collection and could not budge the stuff.
The dealership did get it off but apparently it took 8 hours of hard work to do the four corners.
Glad to say its gone now and not come back - which leads me to believe it was from the factory / shipping process, anyway the marks were there when i picked the car up!! The VW Tech did say when i spoke to him that they had recently changed the tyre protectant at the factory but needed to revert back as it was staining the alloys! Maybe this got onto our cars!
The garage i use is South Hereford Garages VW - maybe you could get your garage to ring them and find out what they did.

Thanks again for your help - Initially when I took the car in - the sales manager mentioned something about tyre dressing!!
I think I've found the answer!!
So he can standby on Monday!!!

Might be worth claying it to see if it comes off :undecided:
