Ok so im looking to get a Mk4,not really up to scratch on the engines as im used to Mk1s.Anyway what are the pros and cons on the 1.8T and the 2.8 V6 4motion?Im stuck between the two. Want something thats quick and that i can get big power out of later on.Which is the easiest to get power gains out of?Im assuming itll be the 1.8 seeing as its a turbo etc but i really dunno. Then again the 2.8 has four wheel drive so more grip etc...............help!

There was a couple of threads on this recently mate - ran into a few pages

No probs ill have a scout about!
Cheers

3.2 V6 *cough Cough* is the one you want
but if its big power at a reasonable price go 1.8t can do a lot to get a good £250 + out of them depends how deep your pockets are,
I did have a look into the cost of either SC or T the R but for teh low end conversions would need at least 6k which well is steep!!!
as rhys said think the thread was called 'V6'

lol i started the last topic and am in same boat as you and after ages and ages trying to decided between the 2 im still none the wiser seem to have an equal amount of pros and cons to both so not an easy decision

Yeah i know,i think im swaying for the V6 i have to say.Not just the engine but theyre so much more well equipped that the Turbos. Plus less likely that they have been booted about, more of an exec/family style car.Thats my thinking anyway.

if its staying standard i'd say a 4mo, if not a 1.8t. The v6's throttle response is much better than on the turbo, but it doesn't feel as fast as the turbo. Even though its a chunk quicker than the 1.8t. Petrol is pretty scabby on the v6. Handling is better on the v6 and comfier imo

My choice would be a 1.8t

my friend is looking to sell his 4mo soonish, 80 something k, silver 3 door leather recaros, had recent service and mot. Only bad bits i know of are, clear rear lights and its not got a 4mo front valance as some pikey swapped it without him noticing. i can see if he still wants it gone?

get a 1.8t if your planning plenty of mods and a quick car, the 4mo will be good for a bit untill you crave more power and unless you have very, very deep pockets you wont be able to achive this!
