Im guessing you either got that from VW dealer or VW customer service. If you have your commision number then you can phone VW customer service and they will confirm if your car is now in its confirmed build slot.
In gerneral a build slot is 'normally' only confirmed 4-5 weeks before the build starts.

Due to new engines in the golf range and a few other things build slots the past week or 2 have been all over the place moving back and forward all over the place. Myself i have not got the currage to even go ask these past couple weeks as it could easily move again later in the week or the following week. Thats why im waiting till 4-5 weeks before the date i was given a week or so ago as if i phone it may just depress me

Week 51 sounds about right to me. As that seems about right from the order to build week thread we have in the forum thread below.

just got this email from dealer im just about two throw the towel in and cancel nearly 6 months to wait for a gti golf

Try not to look at what I'm about to say as bad news!

The car is now showing Build Week 6 2010, which would place delivery around Mid March 2010 - which obviously I can appreciate isn't what you want to hear. However, this build date still hasn't confirmed, so it could quite easily move forwards from then.....it had previously, as you know, been at build week 2, then back to build week 50, and now to week 6. My hope is that they've moved it to here, with the aim to then move as many orders back into earlier build weeks as possible. For instance, my new demo, which is also a 3dr GTi, has also moved to Week 6, and it was ordered just before yours. Let me watch it over the next week or so and if and when it changes, I'll immediately let you know.

Allocation shows 06/2009, should that not be 06/2010?  If that's straight from their computer system, then it's no wonder they can't schedule their production.

just got this from him is he talking bull has anyone elese heard this

Think I've found what might be the issue on VW's dealer ordering site ;

Radio restrictions
As per bulletin 1421-09, we are experiencing restrictions on RCD 310 and 510 availability, which is affecting production on all models. If you have not done so, please read this bulletin.

The 510 model is the stereo being added to your car. This was published in week 45 (3.5 weeks ago), and states that they expect the restriction to last for 4 weeks. So what I'm figuring has happened is that they've moved affected orders to later build dates, with the aim to move them back when the Stereo systems are fully available again....so as much as I can't guarantee anything, I'm hoping that one morning I'll check your order and it'll either have moved to an earlier build week, or they'll have just started building it.

ordered mine a week ago, changed the spec a bit this week  -  was told last week that I'd see the car in March  -  in my mind, I'm thinking June and if I don't see it in March, April or May, I wont be disappointed  -  I hope my June thinking is reasonable  -  surely this all bodes well when considering resale value?? I've only seen 2 or 3 on the road this year...

don't blame you mate.  its useless of VW to mess about with new orders so much.  their loss.

what are you going for instead?

I'm putting  -  trying to  -  the order out of my head  -  ordered a couple of weeks ago, told should be delivered March but I know it wont be before June  -  the only consolation is that I know it's a car which is around in big numbers, that I'll have a relatively rare (in the price range) car  -  part of the car thing is looking forward to getting it  -  very annoying, pipehose, but you might, in the future, regret cancelling  -  all the best....whatever you do...

Sorry to hear of yet another cancelled order sue to build weeks, however wherever you turn to now will be either someones spec or a similar delivery time as hanging on for your existing order.

You might want to list the dealer name and your original spec in case anyone fancies taking it on and possibly beating the lead time for a brand new order.

good point but I assume that if anyone with the same spec order is on the dealer's list, that person will take pipe's place??

TBH, 4 months plus wait is not bad for a good looking performance car with a decent badge/heritage.
Tried how long you need to wait for a 997 turbo or Skyline GTR.(Both 6 months plus)! Even the Focus RS or Cooper S Works got a long waiting list!

I waited 18 weeks for my GTI, I am glad that I didn't cancel my order and went for a A5 TDI/ 3 series coupe 325d. This car is well worth the wait! It might be a bit more expensive than a Mazda MPS or Megane but after commuting in it for the last 700miles, I find this car is a bit of a bargain! Like a 911, it wouldn't blow you away after a test drive, it's owning and using it everyday which makes you think its head and shoulder above its other competitors! It just cover every basis of a good performance hatch so well!

Only gripes--fuel economy is nowhere near as good as the official combined figure!
Rear leg room and boot space is no where near as good as a Focus!!

Try 7 months+ wait, not 4 months, for a golf.

No need to disappear (at  least nobody shot me yet ). Sorry to hear another losing patience, VW have really made a pigs ear of this! If its really all over a flaming head-unit too

Try 7 months+ wait, not 4 months, for a golf.

Sad isn't it? 7 months for a mass produced hatch that VW churn out by the 100,000.

You can order a bespoke 911 and have it in considerably less time...
What the f**k are VW up to?

Yum, so it's not far off the GTI for bhp but better economy obviously with it being a diesel.  How do you find the automatic is it as good as peeps say the dsg is?

Can anyone tell me how long after the car is built it is ready for collection, I have a build week of 09 and have been told it should be available late March, but reading some of the posts, this seems optimistic.
Title: Re: build week
Post by: GTD-Smurf on 10 January 2010, 21:12
If you have a confirmed build week of week 9 which is W/Ending  5th March, it takes approx 2Wks to deliver the Vehicle to dealer and they then PDI it, this can take up to a week depending how many  vehicles they have to PDI that week, they then hand the Vehicle over to yourself  you inspect it and accept or refuse it, Hand over All your Hard Earnt or walk away untill a acceptable solution is found. So all in all expect to be driving out of the showroom with your brand new motor Max 3wks after a "CONFIRMED" Build Week.

If You have a Unconfirmed build week as many of us have (placed my order Sept 17th 09 for a GTD and still waiting for a "confirmed" build Week) it's all in the hands of them very efficient Germans "NOT"   . I could have built one in my garage quicker than them with parts from ETKA
