Hi Guys, Might sound like a bit of a dumb question but im wondering if the MK3 1.4 L Models came with Central Locking as standard. When i bought my car it came with the Locking and Key Fob, the siren makes one beep when unlocking and two when locking(rather annoying). If it is an Aftermarket alarm. how do i find out what make it is. sorry if this has been discussed before but i didnt find anything in search. Thanks
Sam.

it has central locking as standard. remote central locking and alarm is not standard, and is most probably aftermarket
-
i dont think it did come as standard
mine certainly didnt
-
yes. central locking was standard on all models. Standard central locking was locking by the key. Remote Central locking was not standard.
-
trust me, mine didn't come with any central locking
-
as in it was broke? or someone stole the pump!?
-
As in there were no central locking components in the car, anywhere at all. I had to put my own in because i didnt have any central locking
-
Thanks for the replies guys .
Do any of you know whether a VW Key Fob can be linked up to the locking??
-
IIRC correctly, SE's, GTi's, VR6's & GL's came with C/L.
1.4 CL's didn't for a fact.

no, not fact.
my 1.4L (not CL) had central locking as standard, and that was the lowest of the low models.
i can only think that pre-standard imobilised cars (93/4<) didnt have it. certainly after it was standard on all
-
L's may have, but not CL's.
-
no... the L model was the base model, lowest of the lows. The CL was the next model up and has everything the L has but a few extras. As i said, the only chance that it was not standard was if it was a pre 1993/4 model where it also didnt have an imobiliser. Unfortunatly i cannot find the article now where it states that it was standard on all models. I have not came across either a golf (or polo of the same series) without it.
Thanks for the replies guys .

...anyway, back to the topic, you may be able to get a vw key fob whether it be a proper one, or one you can make up yourself. You need to find what model it is, look for the control module, most probably behind your glovebox. Have you got any cirtification for it?
Have you read the alarm thread in the maintainance section?

Maybe I stand corrected then. 92's deffo didn't have it, my mates car is a 92' CL and DOES NOT have C/L.
-
Mine's a '94 Match CL and didn't come with any central locking at all.. Where is the central locking pump supposed to be?

does yours not have the standard imobilser too by anychance? and its in the boot below the rear light fittings for the drivers side.
Alot of people think they dont have central locking when infact they do, its just broken! when broken it will behave normaly, like a car without!
