Title: Can the moderator force a change of name?
Post by: gizzywizzy on 15 October 2009, 19:37
Maybe it's just me but I've become slightly confused with postings from a member identified as R32UK who has made many great and useful comments on this forum and then comments from a R32 who I've now realised is not the same person and who often spouts poisonous barbs at other forum users.  FrogGTI can you not force a change of id or ban him/her from the forum.

only admin can change people's names and even then its at the request of the user, NOT other people

Why should anyone be forced to change there username unless they request it. Unless of cause its rude or offensive  :undecided:
It does not take much to reread the big bold red writing on the left if your not 100% sure of who it is. I often go to a forum were theres a few usernames similar. For example ones called 'the hated guy' the other is 'the other hated guy' both have similar writing styles too.  Same forum also have similar ones were people use first names so we have a 'jeff' , a 'jeffb' , and 'jeffd' etc. You just have to get use to reading who posted what by looking at the username, avatar, sig.

Look on the members list, and search for R32.  There are three dozen of us with R32 in our names.  Perhaps we should all be banned.

Perhaps we should trial that by starting with you

There is even a R32
As the R32 is not a GTI then there might be a case for banning us all.

there isnt anything in the rules stating you have to have a gti.. but fyi i do

This is a MK6 specific forum... and unless you are talking about R32s and other non-related vehicles, you are more than welcomed to join us irrespective of your nick...

Ok ok calm down everyone, I just found it a little confusing and it all gets tedious when everyone is slagging each other off.  Apparently moderator is unable to ban anyone so there goes that idea so let's all go back to being nice to each other again as FrogGTI wants.

Lets all be nice to each other

It will only give this forum and Mk6 owners a bad name if everyone is abusive all the time.  Taking the pis$ is one thing but being abusive is a step too far.

I was serious about the door hinges.
Over on the Australian Golf6 forum there is mention of a recall for door hinge problems.

But you thought I was having a pop, easy mistake to make, so no problem.
Are you sure it was mk6 related and not mk5?.

Getting a bit silly now.

Could the few new people (or person) who are trying to ruin the forum for everyone back off a bit and get a life please.

Moderator.   Surely there is something you can do about obvious trolls with at least 2 IDs???

This is a brilliant forum and it needs to protect itself from destructive influences.

I cannot go out and look as its foggy, drizzly and pitch black but i would expect them to be different as the doors are completly different now. The mk6 does not have the back to front hard to aline doors that the mk5 has it has doors of the old type layout like the mk4. Its one of the things they changed to make it easier to build.

Ah, well not heard of any issues with the mk5 ones so maybe it is the mk6?

I'll never rid the internet of trolls, sorry.. there are just too many. Ignore the trolls please.. they're only the way they are because they have small willies and/or were abused as children. Or they have ginger hair. Either way, pity them quietly then pretend you never even saw the post.

Someone has to buy new cars or the whole market would collapse and with a warranty who cares, have you heard of the bathtub curve which applies to any thing mechanical ?Its more likely to breakdown at the start or end of its life not really a problem at the start because you get a warranty

Lots of glumness in here.
The old saying "Don't buy a car in it's first year" applies to German cars too you know.
Is that the link to the door hindge problem?  :undecided:
