i'm hopefully doing a bodywork apprenticeship, so hopefully if i need any work doing to my car i can just quickly pop it in when there's nothing to do..
i think i'm going to look for g60 steelies and just wait until i have 200 pound spare and get them banded..
ringing up in the morning to see if the mk3 im after is still for sale then hopefully buying it on saturday, only thing is that it's red which will go to red and i just don't think red golfs look that nice, again, if i get the apprenticeship i'd love to get it sprayed a darkish brown..

I like'em!!

I like them but can never shake the feeling that paying alloy wheel price for steel wheels is a silly thing to do. I'd pick up a used set if I was after some.

i know what you mean, the thing is i would rather get them done myself because most are sold for more then what it would of cost, seen a pair sell for £600 ages ago which is rather daft..

Very heavy plu can and will cost the same as a set of alloys.

Banding was a trick done by old hot rodders to widen there wheels, it was done because nothing else was available ,

Seems cheaper to get a set banded then buy a second hand set from what I've seen.

it's what i will be doing one day when i come into some money..

i was going to get a set done for my mk1 escort as it currently has the deep mexico steelies on it but it's much cheaper to get a standard width set of wheels to have banded than more sought after ones ~ ie G60's which seem pricey enough as they are.

I would have banded wheels, because I wanted banded wheels! and not because they were a cheaper alternative to alloys
The most important issue is the safety aspect, use a company that has exacting standards and an unblemished history, I would check over on Edition38, to see who comes top of the list
