best search the forum before you go much further, its a hotly debated topic as its hard to retro fit them legally.

you can technically do it, but need a leveling sensor on the rear axle (factory fitted with xenons) and headlamp washers (which I guess you could have already).

^^ I believe there is a kit that makes it relatively easy to retrofit the levelling sensors, but unless you have the headlight washers this is a major PITA.

Just buy some Osram nightbreaker replacement H7 bulbs and you'll be happy...

I think you can buy the headlight unit itself for ~700£ from some websites, which ones sell it though I'm not sure. Sensors and washers are another issue entirely.
Get some Osram Nightbreakers or Phillips X-Treme Powers and call it a day. The light from them is fantastic

Cheers for the comments....

already have nightbreakers - I really wanted the xenons for the looks.

Nevermind, if its a PITA I will forget it!

Thought about treating the car to xenons as Ive decided to keep it!

I had provisionally agreed a deal on a 1 month old Silver Rocco TD. If it had been a GT, I would have gone 4 it, but in basic trim, the Rocco has 17" alloys and no front fogs.....

After much deliberation, Ive decided to keep the GTI. Its like one of the family.
