I've got the list of car checks, my heads buzzing so can't think straight at the moment.
Anything that I need to remember to check for ?
-
Cover plates in the front wheel arches been fitted, transporter blocks removed, wheel nut covers, wheel centre badges, locking wheel bolt key and tools in the boot, bottle opener, Ipod & usb leads, manuals, check reg document has correct numbers of the car on chassis etc. All the options are there and working. Then usual, paint quality, dents, marks, colour difference, wheel marks, interior marks, panel gaps. Make sure under rear of the car is fine as its not unkown due to the 55psi storage pressure(check tyre presures too ) for it to slide and fall off the transporter. Check they filled the oil and water and not left it at shipping levels etc etc. Infact its a good idea to ask for a copy of the PDI and work your own way through it.
And take plenty of photos
-
don't give in to temptation as you leave the dealers and floor it!!
hope it goes well mate, look forward to the pics!
-
Thanks snoop

Ta much mate

The brakes are very sharp at first untill you get used to them, check they have you on the correct service regime, check for the little black dots that people ahve been talking about on here.
-
Get a receipt.
And while you are there buy some touch-up paint, a bottle of oil and a bottle of screen wash.
-
Right, thanks everyone. I'm off to collect her now whoohoo
-
Thats a good question.
Are they still suppose to give you a free bottle of oil in the boot on the long life service plan like they did with the mk5. Also the manuals like the mk5 are you suppose to still get the posh folder.

Your not kidding. I nearly put both my daughter and me through the windscreen as we were leaving the garage.
-
Make sure you dont close your eyes and get in, the dealer may put you in a mk5 and you wont be able to tell any difference

Seriously though mate; enjoy it! Superb car
-
The only thing you really need to remember (after all of the checks of course) is to ENJOY!!!
You've waited long enough for it I hope it lives up to your expectations.
I'm in love with mine.

-
I'm back. I friggin love it.
Did all checks, got everything I need. All is well with the car.
Was funny though, while I was doing my checks 2 guys were looking at the car, peering in the windows, one of them tried the door and was gonna sit in it  Erm, this cars sold, its mine. The poor guy couldnt say sorry enough then started talking much I paid for it and would love one.
Anyway, misses took it home and weve just been playing in it, going through stuff and basically checking it out to find where everything is. My head is still in the clouds. Totally forgot to take pics in the daylight, but to be honest, by the time I left the dealer the light was low and it was not really ideal conditions. So I thought bugger it and took one when it was getting dark  Sorry that they are crap, but just taken with a rubbish iPhone camera. I'll add it to this thread but will make a new thread tomorrow with proper pics.
Just a quick few thoughts. I had forgotten really how good this car is, the interior is the dogs danglies, at night there's more illuminations than Vegas and if you have not specc'd your car with dynaudio, shame on you, its absolutely genius. Also, Why when sitting stationary at lights, does it say I'm doing 6 mph ? sometimes it says 2, then sometimes 3. Its weird.
p.s. This car is a proper head turner, lots of attention.

Very nice
-
Nice, Kev...
The iPhone camera is actually not bad... You car looks great although a daytime picture would be excellent...
Have a good rest...
Wishing you a good ride tomorrow!!

Oh dear, get it back Kev its fecked.
Seriously though, where does it say that speed? On the main speed dial or in the MFD? As I thought the MFD only displayed KMH as the secondary speed.

On the mfd. Might have been 6 kph, will check again tomorrow.
-
Lovely kev, hope you enjoy it
I though the mfd display changed to some daft fuel consumption readout when stationary ?
-
Congrats on the new arrival, how many times have you been to the window, just for another peep...
-
Lookin' good
-
looks really mean in the dark, makes the tinted windows seem black and sets off really well against the white. even the rear lights look smoked!!
white 3dr defo a head turner... but i like my "sporty family man" look
-
Not bad....
You have noticed one of your wing mirrors is missing?
Joke.
-
Very nice!!
Im sure you know to ignore the comments from others that WOULD have had this, and would of had that if they only had the inferior mk6
-
Congrats on the new arrival, how many times have you been to the window, just for another peep...
 Lost count.

Thanks everyone.

gone one better than that i reckon - spent the night sleeping in it
Does look quite tasty
-
looks the nuts kev, enjoy!! dynaudio - awesome isn't it! get those 1000 miles on it asap then you can start really enjoying it!! enjoy dude!
-
Three things I would have different:
3 doors, much much better with 5. You can park in tight spots. white looks better with 3 doors. plus parking in tight spots? car is same length mate.
Manual, only for old drivers who can not change to an auto. covered in other threads, manual is for real drivers
White, too much like a United Utilities VW.why don't you bore off and let him enjoy his car, which in fact looks the nuts in white. you level of taste went out the window when you said you have a bentley
Other than that it's a nice car.
-

Rhyso, please tell me you are joking
Very nice car, Kev. Congrats & enjoy.

lol no - picking up my car was a much more painful experience as the bloke stuck PETROL in the tank
-
That's a nice motor.
I want one.
sob.
-
One thing I am careful about is my keys. I take mine to bed, too many scallies with fishing rods and magnets would love a brand new GTI. Mine is solid black but the solid white looks
-
Car looks good Kev.
-
Keep an eye on the oil level during the first few hundred miles.
I've topped up with 1/2 a bottle of Castrol Edge (VW spec) in under 1000 miles.
-
Thanks all.
will do mk6GTI.
-
Nice car, enjoy.

That will thwart the crooks with the fishing rod but it won't stop the guys who break into your house for the keys. The only thing worse than waking up in the morning to find your car has been stolen is to be woken up in the middle of the night by some crackhead with a knife demanding your keys. It happens, there were a few of these stories in the mk5 board...

That was my thinking too...
If some lunatic wants to break into a secure and alarmed house to get my car keys - any car keys, it doesn't matter - they can have them.,..and I'd rather them not come upstairs and threaten me/my family in order to get them.
Cars are insured, and can be replaced.
My keys sit in a drawer, in the kitchen...anyone that seriously breaks in with the intent on taking a car will find them...and hopefully leave us well alone.
-
I slept in my car... when I first got it... It was that comfortable... Yup, my son joined me... Nothing like spending a father-son moment in the car... until someone farted... sigh....

Didn't think about that. I suppose the thing is not to leave your keys in view from the letterbox. Such as on a hall table.

I think that's the key (no pun intended).
Nowhere they could be fished easily...but somewhere the hardcore nutters will find them and not bother you.
-
Congrats kev.
DON'T FORGET...Some more PICS
Sigh! Only a couple of weeks before I get mine......

I would like to say, that this thread will also be very usefull, for when I go to collect my! (sorry my wifes!) new car.
(Car was built this week). So my thanks also go out, to those who gave sensible advice.
-
Very nice but i think you missed an option off from looking at the two photos that you need. Parking sensors/camera
Enjoy Kev and have fun.
-
Looks good,i struggled to choose between the 3dr black and 3dr white both look pretty good, would be happy with either
-
I agree with all those who like the white. I think the white 3 door is the nicest of the lot. I only went for the grey due to the fact that I live in this sh**ty country where the weather's that bad. Every time I wash the damned thing within 500 yards it's filthy again and that's more obvious on the white.
It's absolutely stunning when it's clean though.
-
Looks good in white, have fun and watch out for MKII's in your mirror
nick
-
Also remember when you collect to ask them to make any mods you might want with VAG.com such as one click unlock on all doors, auto lock when you drive off, DRL's off (although you can easily do that yourself).
Enjoy your car Kev, never thought we'd see the day......(joke!)
-
Very nice, it does look very smart in white (when it's clean!!)
Need some more piccies though
-
The car looks great Kev - you'll be so busy driving it you won't have any time left to be on here...

can do all of that yourself via MFD and a read of the manual

Lots more pics in my main thread, have a peek.

Yes thanks thats much better its much appreciated i hate large massive pic sigs there a huge pain to have to go through threads with massive sigs. Its why other forums im a moderator on i set the settings so sigs cannot be no longer than 8 lines deap max and much better if there less.

Oh it does, it gives me 23 mpg on a motorway when I should get 48 mpg. It has a very big sense of humour.
