I have a 1.6 CL but it has two aeirals on it the bee sting on the roof and an electric one on the bonnet, i want to get rid of the electric one but i can only find one wire going to the head unit, would i have to take the roof lining out to trace the wire back or is there an easier way? Also water leaks into my passenger footwell i've had to replace the fan motor already becasue it blew from having water leaking on it, if anyones had a similar problem could you let me know how you fixed it.
Cheers any help is much appreciated.

The roof one has obviously been fitted at a later date..
I had a wing mounted aerial on my 1.6 CL when I bought it but I took the wheel arch lining out, cut the wire, then ripped the aerial off and put a grommet in the hole so I could fit a roof aerial.
Are you sure your wing mounted aerial is electric? As mine wasn't...
As for the water leak, do you have a sunroof? If so, check the drainage tubes located on the A pillar when the door is opened.

Welcome to the site.

maybe the roof aerial was for show only?
As for the leak also check the plastic scuttle panel and air intake. (nearside)

Thanks for all the tips, they both look pretty factory fitted and yeah it is electric at goes up when i turn on the radio and down when i turn it off.

If there's only one wire going to the head unit then it's just the power wire from the wing and into the car, which can be cut/disconnected and then the aerial can be removed from the wing.
The actual aerial cable itself should go from the back of the head unit up to the roof aerial and won't need to be touched unless it hasn't been connected, what's the radio reception like?
-
Electric aerial should and will have 3 wires, earth, power and feed.

Just had a good look at both aeirals and yeah the front wing is all wired up with 3 wires and the roof just has a wire coming off it with a plug, need to get re wire it, how difficult is it to use body filler on the front with and smooth it over to make it look like nothing was there?
-
You'd need to weld a piece of metal behind the hole and filler over the top
You can get a aerial blanking grommet from VW for less than a quid :)
There's a person that sells them on ebay for about a fiver lol

I would get rid of the roof aerial, the signal on mine was crap.

Better wiring the electric one up if it works so it goes down when you switch ign off that way it wont get snapped by kids.

I second this, I have a roof aerial and the signal is rubbish. I tried a booster and that didnt help.
