Title: Heat deflector plate - Part number please
Post by: laurenceyon on 15 October 2009, 10:35
Hi

I'm after a 'heat deflector plate' (at least thats what I think it's called) for my MK2 Golf 16V, this parts sits behind the inlet manifold and is attached to the bulk head.

Essentiallty it protects the loom from any heat given off the engine. Mine has been missing since I bought the car nearly 2 years ago and I want to replace it before I encounter problems.

I was in Volkswagen yesterday for an hour trying to find the correct part on ETKA but no real joy. We found a simular part for the TD MK2, but not the 16V - I would have bought it but VW do not have a returns policy  and I didn't want to waste my money. Which forever seems to be the case with my car atm!

Also I've replaced the heater matrix, it all works, so good! Wicked! Great! I've got beautiful warm lovely air (I changed the coolant too - G12/G10 VAG stuff) But since my minature orgasm, my front fogs lights have stopped working, the rear fog light works but not the fronts..   :undecided:  But I suppose thats another post.

If anyone can advise me on part numbers/item description.. anything so i can get this part ordered, I would be most grateful.

Ta.

Laurence

pretty sure this is the right part, but its 54+VAT! better off looking for a good 2nd hand one really.  as for the fogs,  if the rear fogs work the fuse & relay is fine. I'd be looking at the 2 pin fron fog loom plug under the header tank, and make sure the bulbs havent blown. The plug you are looking for has a brown and a yellow/white wire

191 803 312 - 56.82+VAT

you also need these clips if they're missing:
191 803 340 A - 0.96+VAT x2

The clips pop onto the brake pipe plastic holders half way up the bulkhead, the bottom of the tin plate then slots into them.  The top hooks go under the rubber seal that runs along the front edge of the scuttle tray :)
