Ive only had car amonth, when i picked it up it would flash 2000 to service, fine with that and when ive been driving around its been counting down up till yesterday when it said 1100 and started today and now says service now. Im guess this not normal as i should have another 1000miles before service. Has anyone got idea why it would do this?

you could be on longlife servicing which constantly monitors how the car is driven etc etc
what engine you got?
-
its the 1.8t agu engine
-
won't be on longlife then
can't remember for sure but I think 1000 miles and under it flashes up SERVICE NOW - its meant to act as a warning to change the oil and I guess if something were to happen within the first 3 years it covers the manufacturers arse should something go wrong, yet the owner has ignored the warnings

Cheers rhyso, that makes sense, well time to get it booked in for a service then

If you're handy with a spanner I'd suggest buying the parts and do the service yourself. You'll learn about your car and get the satisfaction of saving a few quid :afro:

I always used to service my mk3 so im handy with the spanner  but im in 2 minds to do it myself or let vw do it, its had a full vw service from new right upto last year and i think there are only 2 more stamps left for a full book, so not sure what to do? :undecided:

given the age of the car mate I wouldn't bother. I do the servicing on my own car but keep all the receipts etc to prove what i'v used - I've got an A4 lever arch folder full of invoices, receipts etc etc
Only thing the dealers see my car is for cambelt and for in desperate times of need
