Title: 2.0 8v
Post by: johnson6672 on 14 October 2009, 20:35
Someone please correct me if i am wrong but to make a 1.8 8v a 2.0l 8v it is pretty much just a case of changing the bottom end and blocks but you can retain the 1.8 8v head? or is it just easier to put the whole engine in?

Keep the PB head and you keep the OEM injection system on the car.

The 2E/AGG has different shaped ports, so the inlet doesn't fit up.

Just the person i hoped would answer, so which bottom end and block would i need from a mk3 etc?
My mk2 is a PB.

2E cheapest.

AGG has a crank sensor, which could be useful if you want to put a proper management system on it at some point.

Cheers just had a quick scan though there, i will have to start scanning the breakers near me now. Think i will go simple and have a 2E then.

Do you not also need the dizzy adaptor ring from TSR - or is that EV specific?

depends on the management you use, if you use carb/k-jet you need the ring as you have to use your old dizzy, plus swap the 2.0 dizzy gear over. if digifant you cause the 2e dizzy as it works just the same.  If you get an AGG you need to swap the dizzy for a 2e one, as the AGG uses a signle trigger dizzy and the mk2 digi needs a 4 trigger one.  However you may be able to swap the trigger window over from your pb dizzy
