Title: mmm advice please
Post by: player.777 on 12 October 2009, 21:21
cleaned and waxed the car today. no new scratches-good.  then took the car for a service at a local specialist. on return, 3 small chips on the front wing- saw them almost instantly.  I can only assume it was done when leaning into the bonnet.  Do I just accept it or phone the guy and let him know/ see if he'll help fix it. I have ordered a new touch up stick, which I'm sure will do the trick, and ofcourse I don't know if he did actually do it, but i'm pretty sure???  Not sure.

If you value the relationship then I would probably keep quiet and accept it.... I am sure the touch up will sort it. It's always tricky when you take your car to someone you know. It's all ok until something goes wrong!

I thought you were selling up at one time Simon?? You still got the black beast then...

yes was thinking at selling earlier this year but house hunting now instead.  But like everyone, as soon as I wash, and polish the car, I fall in love with it all over again.  So will be part of the mk4 crew for a while to come!!!  She's not going anywhere!

If you mention it he is just going to turn around and say to you that it wasn't him. Unless you do a walk around the car with him before you give it to him to confirm there are no scratches or point out existing ones (which I always do for this exact reason) then you dont have a leg to stand on I'm afraid.
